Prosthodontist Jobs
A Prosthodontist is a specialized dentist who deals with the replacement of missing teeth and related mouth or jaw structures through prostheses. These prostheses can be removable (like dentures) or fixed (like bridges and implants). Besides, they also work on improving patients' oral function, comfort, appearance, and health. Prosthodontists are also skilled in cosmetic dentistry, including dental veneers and teeth whitening. They play a crucial role in the dental industry by enabling patients to regain their lost confidence due to missing or damaged teeth.
To become a Prosthodontist, one needs to complete a dental degree from an accredited institution and then a three-year postgraduate program in Prosthodontics. One should also pass the National Board Dental Examination to get the license to practice. Essential skills for a Prosthodontist include dexterity, patience, attention to detail, and good communication skills. Before becoming a Prosthodontist, a person could have roles such as a General Dentist, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, or a Dental Hygienist.
