Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Assess patient vital signs and medical history to ensure safe and effective treatment. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions tailored to pediatric or adult patients. Review medical records, document treatment details accurately, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control procedures to uphold the highest standards of safety within the dental environment. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting. Familiarity with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and practices is a strong plus. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and documentation review processes. Prior experience with EMR systems, medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and infection control protocols is essential. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Certification in dental assisting or related fields is required; ongoing education in medical terminology or pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
