Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking a Dentist to work part time in support of the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assistant Programs. Must be available for all patient treatment sessions to provide clinical assistance/guidance to students and faculty. Responsibilities include reviewing health histories, managing clinical medical emergencies, diagnosing caries and oral pathology, providing local anesthesia, ordering and reviewing dental radiographs, making appropriate medical/dental referrals, prescribing medications as needed and coordinating with dental hygiene faculty in evaluating student performance

Duties:
Presence on the floor of the clinic during all clinic sessions

Responsible for handling all medical emergencies that arise during clinic hours

Prescribe proper medication as the need arises

Administer local anesthesia when appropriate

Available to answers questions from both students and patients

Available to dental hygiene faculty/staff as an authority pertaining to dental matters

Identify treatments for patients that may be medically compromised

Identify pathologies and make the appropriate referral medical and/or dental

Refer patients for follow-up treatment

Prescribe pit and fissure sealants as needed

Identify and evaluate any lesion, anomaly or deviation from the normal

Review radiographs and make a subsequent diagnosis based on the review

Review health histories of the patient and make referrals to a physician as necessary

Evaluate students as they provide patient care through each process and end result

Provide consulting services to patients to suggest and review treatment plans

Minimum Qualifications:
Dentist DMD / DDS Degree

Current license by NC Board of Dental Examiners

Two years work experience in dentistry

Up to date immunizations

Current CPR for Healthcare Providers

Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the community college or four-year college. On-line teaching experience.
