Position Summary:
As a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH), you will deliver essential preventive oral care services, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to help prevent gum disease and other dental issues. You will work closely with the dentist and other team members to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide ongoing preventive care, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride application.
Record treatment details in patient charts, including procedures performed, treatment plans, and time estimates for follow-up visits.
Take and process radiographs as directed by the dentist.
Conduct thorough evaluations of periodontal conditions, occlusal relationships, and the extent of prophylaxis required.
Assist the dentist during clinical examinations, noting findings and treatment recommendations.
Administer Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen (where applicable) to ensure patient comfort.
Apply non-aerosol, non-caustic topical agents, and pit and fissure sealants.
Remove excess cement from supragingival surfaces and perform oral cancer exams on all patients.
Maintain treatment rooms by preparing, decontaminating, sterilizing instruments, and restocking supplies.
Perform root planning and Myofunctional evaluations.
Educate patients on preventive care, the disease process, and oral bacteria, providing educational literature and home care instructions.
Clean and maintain restorations and appliances (e.g., dentures, partials).
Schedule patient appointments and manage recall systems by following up with overdue patients.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid RDH license and X-ray certification.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Attention to detail and a patient-focused approach.
