What happens if I mark a milestone “incomplete”?
Under the “Agreements” tab, you may select “Mark Incomplete” under the Actions column. You must include a reason for designating the milestone as incomplete (e.g., the freelancer only worked five instead of the 10 agreed-upon hours).
The payment is stopped from going through and the candidate is notified, triggering a dispute. The candidate then has 72 hours to resolve the issue, and you may message them directly through our platform if desired.
Once a mutual decision is reached, you and the candidate must select the appropriate outcome – “Milestone is Complete” or “Milestone is Incomplete” on your Agreements dashboard.
If the milestone is completed, the payment will be processed as originally intended.
If the milestone is incomplete, the candidate will have the opportunity to dispute the status. During this stage, if a mutual decision is not reached or there is no response from either party, iHire’s team will act as a mediator. We’ll review your agreement, scope, and deliverables, and facilitate the outcome. If the agreement is not reached with our assistance, we will refer you and the candidate to a third party.
