Works directly with VP and Administrative manager to insure that department functions at highest levels for: ? Patient Satisfaction ? Quality ? Business and Financial management ? Regulatory compliance ? Lead the Residency Program in Dental in developing successful strategies for: o Physician/Administrative/Nursing/Communications. o Dental case management ? Dental Residency Program information systems. Job Description ? Director Residency Program in Dental (contd.) ? Establish in conjunction with the Chair of the Department of Dentistry, treatment criteria and documentation for all Dental patients seen in the unit, the ED and patient care unit. ? Develop standards of care that reflect highest quality, cost efficient care that provides the highest patient satisfaction. ? Assist in the creation of benchmark practices that are reflected in day-to-day care, clinical pathways, and new leading-edge technologies. ? Provide direction and leadership for: o Dental Residents o Teaching and GME o Credentialling and Standards o Attendance at professional meetings, etc. o Conflict resolution o Clinical research ? Attends Department of Dental Executive Committee meetings and full department business meetings. ? As Director of Residency Program: o Interviews, evaluates and participates in final decisions on residency candidate. o Conducts quarterly evaluations of all Dental residents o Serves on Internal Residency Review Committee and insures compliance to RRC and ABIM standards o Supervises, evaluates and holds the Chief Resident accountable for: ? Supervising and monitoring resident attendance at conferences. ? Evaluating resident performance on an ongoing basis. ? Meeting with and counseling residents who require critical evaluation. ? As Vice Chair of Education: o Oversees curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation (by the Chief Resident, Associate Program Director and other faculty) within the Dental Residency Program o Ensures implementation of curriculum and training requirements within all of the ACGME-accredited subspecialty programs within the Department of Dental o Oversees curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation for Dental Assistants and for Dental Assistant training program. o Develop, implement and evaluate the Department of Dental Grand Rounds each year, in collaboration with co-chair. o Assess faculty development needs and implement and evaluate such programs as needed ? Develops and assists Chairman and Chief Resident in implementation of lectures and educational programs necessary for residency. ? Assesses viability of the program structure developing with the Chairman changes needed to promote a strong and up-to-date program. ? Serves as liaison to the Emergency Department working directly with the Chair to maintain continuity between the two departments and resolve issues, which may ensue. ? Works with the Residency Program Director to achieve mutually agreed upon educational goals for the Dental Residency and Dental Assistant Program. ? Be accountable for all professional and administrative activities within his/her Division; ? Assist the Department Chairperson in the preparation of such annual reports including budgetary planning, pertaining to the Division as may be required by the Medical Executive Committee, the Executive Director of the Medical Center and Board of Trustees; ? Be responsible in the Division for the enforcement of the Medical Center Bylaws, the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and implementation of the actions taken by the Medical Executive Committee; ?
